About
Grown at an altitude of 970 meters above sea level, this coffee is a yellow Catucaí. It is named “Águas de Março” because it is fully washed and quite rare in the Cerrado region.
The water used in the full washing process is handled ecologically, as it is treated and recycled in sedimentation tanks. The recycled water returns to the factory and is used for naturally pulped coffees, while the residual solids are used on the farm as fertilizer.
Location – Cerrado
The Cerrado, a young coffee-producing region, began production in the early 1960s and is now internationally recognized for its quality.
Located in the state of Minas Gerais, in western Brazil, the Cerrado has, however, suffered increasing misappropriation of its name and reputation by neighboring regions.
A few years ago, 10 million bags left the country under the name “Cerrado,” while the region’s actual production capacity was only 5 million bags.
In 2013, producers obtained the Denomination of Origin (DO) “Cerrado Mineiro.” This quality seal certifies the authenticity of the coffee, proving it genuinely comes from the region and carries the specific qualities of its original terroir.
Thus, consumers and roasters are assured of enjoying Arabica coffee (a blend of varieties predominantly Mundo Novo and Catuaí), grown within the certified area, at altitudes between 800 and 1300 meters, and that has scored at least 80 points according to the SCAA cupping scale.
